Mama goose

We spotted this mother goose in the river by our house. She laid her nest right under the bridge by the library. We're so excited to watch for her babies to hatch! We've been checking back and can't wait to see the babies!

Spring is finally here...

...and we couldn't be happier about it! Happy Spring!

Great Big Three Year Old!

Donovan is 3!!! To celebrate, he gave up his nighttime binkie (yes, he still had one) because "great big free year olds" don't have binkies. He gave his binkies to Baby Brayden, our neighbor. He also had a party with all his best little buddies.
They played games:

Had a pinata:

Opened presents:

And had cupcakes.

It was "super cool" by 3-year-old standards. The next day, his actual birthday, he ate pancakes for breakfast:

And opened his "super cool" marble roller coaster. He was so in love with this marble roller coaster that for the rest of the day, when we'd see someone, he'd whisper in my ear "tell them I got a marble roller coaster for my birthday."

Happy Birthday, Dono!

Field Trip to the Post Office

Avery's kindergarten class recently went on a field trip to one of our local post offices. It was a lot of fun! I had never been in the back of a post office, and it was interesting to see how everything worked.

Avery's class each brought a letter to mail. Avery's was addressed to "Dad Fleming."

The post office even let all the kids stamp the letters themselves, and Avery's teacher was nice enough to bring along an extra letter for Donovan to stamp.

Brotherly (and sisterly) love

Last week, I came down the stairs to see my kids watching tv like this:

100 Day Project

Avery's class recently celebrated their 100th day of Kindergarten. Each kindergartener had to complete a project made up of 100 things. Avery made a house out of 100 Legos. She was very proud! The class had a big party and made a museum of their projects for the other classes to come and see.

My crazy boy

Donovan loves to sing. Well, I'd call it more yelling than singing. He thinks it is especially funny when he puts his own words in it. His favorite words to stick in there are "pants" "diaper" and "crocodile." Here are some of his best songs.

When I tried to get him to be serious and sing "Jesus Wants Me for a Sunbeam:"

Things I love on a snowy day

Yesterday, we had a snow day. No school, Scott at home, lots of fun, surrounded by the three loves of my life.

I love this guy. He had all the neighborhood involved in a snowball fight and giggling hysterically. It's not fair that every little kid doesn't have a dad this great, but I am so glad that my kids do. He makes me melt like the snow under my bare feet when I took the trash out.

I love this little girl. Every single thing about her. She's my little best friend. Except when her dad is around, and then she's his little best friend. She outlasted everyone in the snow, and only came in when I made her. She wasn't cold! Yesterday, she licked the beater after I made a cake. She was so into the chocolate, she didn't even know her face was covered in it.

I love this little guy. He is my little sidekick and never wants to be more than 3 feet from me. He didn't last long in the snow yesterday. It was windy, and his pink cheeks needed to be warmed up, which meant spending time with me. He spent most of the day at the back door window yelling "DAD!!! SISSY!!! HEY GUYS!!!!" through the closed door.
