Berry picking
Last Saturday, we went to Homestead Farms (our annual pumpkin picking location) to pick blackberries with some friends. They were delicious!

Dono's new bike
Now that Donovan is "all the way potty trained" (as he puts it), he has earned a new bike. Here it is!
Kentucky trip!
July 6 - 10, my mom and I drove with Avery and Donovan to visit Laci in Kentucky. Although the planned 10 hours each way ended up taking more like 14 hours each way, it was worth the trip to see Laci, Erek, and Kali, as well as Krista, Hudson and Claire.

Fourth of July
Scott and I got home from our cruise on the afternoon of the 4th, so we went down to watch the fireworks at Fort Belvoir. It was a great show. While we waited for it to start, Scott and the kids had fun with glow sticks while I had fun with the settings on my camera.
After awhile, Scott was annoyed with my flash, so I shut the operation down.

My mom was still there after a great week babysitting our kids. She was not annoyed with the flash. Or, at least she didn't let it show.
I didn't, however, get any cool pics of the fireworks. But it was a really fun show. I think it's our new spot for fireworks!
July 2nd was our 10 year anniversary, so we celebrated by taking an Eastern Carribean cruise. Here is a recap:
Monday - flew into Ft. Lauderdale around 12:30, caught the Carnival transfer bus and rode down to Miami. Got on the ship around 2:30 or so. We went straight to our stateroom and checked it out and went out on the balcony. We then went up to get some food and looked around until we had the lifeboat drills. We went to our dinner in the dining room. I was nervous because I don't like being forced to hang out with people, but we lucked out and the couple we sat with was very nice - Marc and Becky. And get this- they met on Match.com. I thought that was funny. They aren't married, but have been dating for about 8 months. That night, we went to the opening show, it was mostly singing and dancing and just ok. Oh, and also we played a game of bingo and Scott won $50! It would have been $250, but 5 other people also won the same game, but still pretty cool, right? Afterwards, we went up and sat on the upper deck. They had a 30 foot flatscreen and were showing movies. That night it was Sisterhood of the Traveling pants. Scott wasn't into it, but we just sat and talked up there.
The next day was our "Fun day at sea." We slept until like 10 and then had breakfast at the buffet. We hung out on the pool deck, ordered virgin cocktails and read books. It was great. Very relaxing. This was the formal night, so we went to the captain’s reception and then had dinner again in the dining room. That night, we saw the comedian and he was hilarious! That night we stayed up and watched the late movie - Clone wars. I wasn’t a fan and fell asleep in the lounge chair.
Wednesday morning was Grand Turk. We ordered room service for breakfast so we could do it quick and we left the ship before 8. We rented a golf cart from a guy on the side of the road and drove it all over the island. It was awesome. We went to the other side of the island and saw the lighthouse. We also found a deserted beach and hung out there for a bit, picked up some conch shells and saw a sting ray about 3 feet from where we were standing in the water! We saw cows, horses, goats and donkeys wandering all over the streets, crazy! We had booked a snorkeling excursion at 11, so we parked the golf cart back with the owner and told him we’d be back around 1. We were supposed to be back on the ship at 2:30, but we never made it back to the cart because our snorkeling excursion took super long and we barely made it back to the boat in time. So we lost our cool conch shell since we left it in the cart. But snorkeling was great! I guess Grand Turk is the #1 snorkeling and diving destination in the world. I did not know that, but I see why – it was awesome! So much coral reef and so many colorful fish. It really was a lot of fun. I’ll post some underwater pics when I get them developed. We finished just in time to run back to the ship. We grabbed some quick lunch and then I took a nap while Scott watched Wimbledon. We went to dinner in the dining then went to see a “comedic juggler” and he was really funny and also a regular comedian who wasn’t quite as funny.
Thursday we were at Half Moon Cay. It is a private island in the Bahamas owned by the cruiseline and it was the most beautiful thing I have ever seen. White powdery sand beaches and the bluest water you have ever seen. We slept in a bit that day and ate in the dining room for breakfast. We left the ship around 11. We ate lunch at the barbeque party on the island and then found a shady spot and put our stuff out and went snorkeling. It was really hot there when we weren’t in the water. We snorkeled a bit there, but there wasn’t a ton to see, since the bottom of the ocean looked like the bottom of a swimming pool. I’m not even kidding. We did see one or two little white fish. We were one of the very last to leave the island and pretty much had the beach to ourselves. That night, we again had dinner in the dining room. They did the Newlywed show and it was hilarious! We turned in a bit early that night. Hot sun really tires you out.
Friday we were in Nassau, Bahamas. We ate room service breakfast again and were off the ship before 8. Three other ships came into port while we were there that day. We rented a scooter and drove the perimeter of the island. It was so much fun, but I really thought Scott was going to kill me. We saw a ton of the island – farmlands and the little neighborhoods where the locals lived as well as the multi million dollar mansions. Lots of fun. We also drove over and saw Atlantis. I think I want to stay there sometime – it looks amazing. We drove to the fish fry for lunch and had some conch fritters and fried conch. Yummy! We then turned our scooter in and went to the straw market and the other little shops and bought some souvenirs for the kids. We got back on the ship around 4:15, took a shower and took a short nap. Then, we went to dinner and walked around the ship a bit until the movies started. e watched Ghost Town and Hancock. I really liked both. I know it sounds kind of lame to watch movies on a cruise, but since we never watch movies it was fun for us. Plus, it was so nice to just sit up on the top deck and eat ice cream and feel the breeze and chat.
The next morning, we slept until about 8:30 and then took a quick shower and ate breakfast at the buffet. I think we were one of the very last to get off the ship. I just didn’t want our trip to end!

Dance Recital
Last month, Avery was in her annual dance recital. She did great and looked pretty darn cute, if I do say so myself. This year, she performed two dances, a tap routine to "We Got the Beat" and a ballet dance to "Sing."
She was in a class again this year with her good buddy Adrienne.
Ballet costume:

This year, I got to be the "Class Mom," which meant I got to hang out backstage with the girls during the performance. It was fun to see their crazy antics.
By the end of the night, these little girls were TIRED!
But she can't wait to do it all again next year!
