First Day of School 2014

This year, Avery is in 6th grade at Keene Mill Elementary School.  She was excited to start school, but mostly because she missed her school friends.  Her teacher is Mrs. Madigan, and she is in a trailer outside because they are renovating part of the school.

Donovan is in 3rd grade at Keene Mill Elementary School this year.  It is his first year at KMES.  He is starting the Advanced Academics Program there, the same program Avery is in.  He was really nervous and it was hard for me to leave him at school.  His teacher is Mr. Walrod.  He's excited to have a man teacher for the first time.  He's also excited to be riding the bus home.

I missed them a lot and was sure glad to see them get off the bus!  School days are too long!

Waiting for Sissy and Dono at the bus stop.

Isla started school a couple of days after Avery and Donovan.  She is attending Pre-K at First Baptist of Springfield.  Her teachers are Mrs. Corey and Miss Connor.  She was very excited to start school.  She goes 4 days a week, but wishes she could go all 7.

Manassas Park Kids Triathlon

The day before we left for the Outer Banks, Avery and Donovan competed in a triathlon in Manassas Park, VA.  It was a small, poorly organized triathlon that took place on a rainy day, but the kids had a great time and did very well.  Donovan took second place, coming in behind his friend Cael, and Avery took a couple of minutes off her triathlon time from last year (different course, same distance).

Outer Banks

This year we went to the Outer Banks with the Meilstrup family, the Swensen family, and the Christensens, who flew in from Seattle for the trip.  It was so much fun.  We had red flags (no swimming) for the first three days of the trip, but the weather was still nice and we could play on the beach and wade in the water.
